Dressed Like Boys

You may know Jelle Denturck as the energetic frontman of DIRK., but behind the solid guitars is a musical softy with a weakness for melancholic indie pop. Enter Dressed Like Boys, his first solo project and perhaps his most personal work to date. What began as a search for himself - and acceptance of his orientation - culminated in a series of fragile, honest songs. Think Bowie, Elton John, Sufjan Stevens and Tobias Jesso Jr. but with a DIY approach that sounds at once nostalgic and innovative. Taperecorders, Wurlitzers, strings and a touch of 70s melancholy colour his self-titled debut album, which will be released on 29 August and will be supported with a release show in AB!
