unpeople make music for everyone who is overlooked by politics or society. That’s what the band’s name refers to: an ‘unperson’ is someone who is regarded as unimportant or worthless. The British band channels that discontent into alternative rock in which heavy riffs and screeching guitars blend remarkably easily with catchy melodies and harmonised vocals.The band consists of guitarists Jake Crawford and Luke Caley, bassist Em Lodge and drummer Richard Rayner. Following sold-out shows in London, the quartet won the Heavy Music Award for Best Breakthrough Live Artist in 2026. Their debut album ‘we are unpeople’ is due for release on 9 October. The first single, ‘friends’, already shows that unpeople aren’t just angry about the state of the world, but above all want to prevent people from feeling alone in it.
