Tinariwen

The Hoggar Tour: the original desert blues rockers are back for a hypnotic show.
With their long desert robes and Tuareg turbans or shesh , Tinariwen are the founders of what is now commonly known as 'desert blues', a musical style they themselves call assuf , which also means 'longing' or 'homesickness' in Tamasheq . As is well known, the members of Tinariwen traded their Kalashnikovs for guitars after their participation in the Tuareg uprising in 1990. They are true rock 'n' roll rebels who attract with a hypnotic sound, their growling vocals, spacey guitar lines, and clapping rhythms. Over the past two decades, they have been popular and regular guests at festivals all over the world, where they have done much to highlight Tuareg culture and identity.
